“In Nigeria, majority of cases that deal with violence Against Women are unreported so official statistics are unavailable but some figures state that as high as 1 in every 5 women is in an abusive relationship.

The VAW music project is an hbs intervention implemented by DLI Tuesday Nig. Ltd. The project was launched to build women’s self confidence, discourage men from gender based violence, and to make society take notice and speak up instead of look away.
This necessitated recording a music album featuring some of Nigeria’s biggest musicians with a violence-against-women theme.

The four artists Omawumi, M.I, Waje, ElDee volunteered their services to such a worthy cause and attended a workshop with hbs, survivors of violence, lawyers who deal with gender based violence and NGO’s that help survivors. This helped the artist understand the legal and emotional issues involved to enable them connect with the theme of the album.
The tone of the album is not pleading, but rather an empowering message for women, helping them to realize that they have a right to demand love, value and respect from the partners in both marital and non marital situations.

This album also seeks to build women’s self esteem and inner strength and give a voice to their feelings. It is to help women to identify clearly their expectations in relationships,
To encourage women to realize and insist that they will no longer accept violence in marital and non marital relationships, The album also encourages women to come to that point when they realize that they deserve more than they are getting and giving them the strength to take the necessary steps towards recovery, The other perspective of the album also focuses on how beautiful and strong women are, and delivers a positive message on how women should be treated.
The music album is strictly not for profit and we encourage you to freely listen, download, and distribute the songs to raise awareness on such a serious issue and take a stand against Violence Against Women.

HBS would like to thank the artists, their management team, and the crew at DLI Tuesday for their time, effort and their willingness to volunteer their voices for such a worthy cause.”

Brand new tunes from the beautiful WAJE.

From a catchy chorus, ‘”Toju mi baby, oko mi toh sure”, the singer brings up sweet lines with ‘I no wan wake up, if this na dream then let me sleep…’ “Oko Mi is the song every girl, every woman wants to sing to the man she is in love with,” Waje explains.

For ‘I wish’, the singer digs deep into her darker side with deeply emotional lyrics fused with a slow tempo ragga beat. This song which was leaked a few weeks ago has enjoyed massive airplay topping radio and online charts alongside major official releases. With unforgettable lines like “I wish I didn’t have a heart, na only stone fit dey inside,” the song hits all the sad notes! “For every heart that has been broken, ‘I wish’ is a song that says I’ve been there, I will survive, “Waje explains simply.

It has been a busy month for the multi-talented singer, she co-hosted The Future Awards on August 26. Now, this weekend, Waje is set to rock New York in her trademark show stopping style as she performs at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. Recently, she was nominated as ‘best female vocal performer’ for the Headies.

Waje also celebrates her birthday today in The Big Apple.”

There’s so much fun when best friends come together to drop something hot!!! It is like one of those moments when you’re really having the time of your life. The fabulous duo of West African Idol runner-up Omawumi and Headies winner Waje gives us a picture in this new track “EXPLAIN”.

This time, we got the Doctor of Flavor, Rhythm and Bluez a.k.a Dr. Frabz on the beats: N’sayne Entertainment. He won the Nigerian Entertainment Award as Producer of the year 2008 and was also nominated for the Soundcity Music Video Award (SMVA) 2009 as hit producer of the year. This music production Guru is responsible for smash hit songs like YQ – Efimile Ft Da Grin , Chuddy K’s Slow Slow, Shank -Too Late  and Weird MC – Riranwo (Video)  among others.

This new single EXPLAIN would get you moving before you even realize you are being asked a question you don’t even have an answer too. Don’t be surprised if you get to see a collaboration album before the year runs out from the fabulous duo…

Ovation Red Carol Theme Song 2011 by Yemi Alade, Ice Prince Zamani, Waje, YQ, Wizkid, Segun Obe, Chidinma, IBK, Eva, Jaywon, Malaika, Shayne, Ugly, Karate Kid, Dipp, Kefee and Sir Shina Peters

It’s that beautiful season of the year when the good people at Ovation International bring love, joy and hope to Africa through the annual Ovation Red Carol event described as the largest Pan-African Carol Concert.

In this brand new Ovation Red Carol theme song, seventeen (17) of Nigeria’s finest voices from the old to the new generation, declare in unison; “Near or far, no matter where you are, love is in the air, Ovation Red Carol is here!”

The song which features Yemi Alade, Ice Prince Zamani, Waje, YQ, Wizkid, Segun Obe, Chidinma, IBK, Eva, Jaywon, Malaika, Shayne, Ugly, Karate Kid, Dipp, Kefee, and Sir Shina Peters can easily pass for a Quincy Jones production for famine in Somalia or for peace in Sudan. The unique blend and fusions of style to deliver a trado-medley effect can best be described with one word, awesome!

And who would have thought that OJB produced this great work while critically ill on his hospital bed? Who could have imagined that he actually gave directions to his production assistant on what to do to finish the song should he die suddenly? But such is the passion and devotion that distinguishes great men like OJB and all the artistes who have contributed their time and talent to this noble cause.

What’s more? The voices you hear on the chorus of this song were assembled by OJB from raw talents in the streets of Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria. Epic!
